Red Vein Removal
Thread veins or broken red veins (telangiectasia) are small unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins that occur around the nose, across the cheeks, chin and legs. These broken veins occur when the vein dilates and becomes larger so they are visible through the transparency of the skin. Although facial and legs veins/spider veins are quiet common they can cause some distress and embarrassment for those who have them.
Facial veins may be hereditary or a result of variant factors including damage from sun exposure, wind and extremes of temperature. The over use of steriod creams and certain auto-immune conditions may also induce thread veins. Often the exact cause is unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process or as part of a skin condition called rosacea.
A high frequency cauterizing device is used to eradicate telangiectasia. A ultra fine probe is placed onto the skin and the high frequency current coagulates blood in the vessel which produces a chemical reaction. The body then reroutes the blood flow in the treated area and the affected vein disappears and is re-absorbed into the body. This may take several treatments to remove.
